The Gala Dinner of the festival celebrating mature Bordeaux accompanied by tasting insights and comments by one of the world’s leading Bordeaux authorities and our long-time friend Michael Schuster!

The concept of the evening:

Only 1996 vintage. Only Pauillac and its northern neighbour Saint-Estèphe. Only First growths, and Super-seconds. Plus the occasional over-achiever from Pauillac like Lynch-Bages or Pontet-Canet. Let us know which of these you would kindly offer for the dinner, and we’ll secure Vincent’s cuisine, the company of Riga’s most passionate claret lovers, and Michael Schuster’s insights and commentaries!

Who is Michael Schuster:

Acknowledged internationally as an expert wine taster, writer and teacher with over 30 years experience, Michael is a regular contributor to The World of Fine Wine, writing their annual Bordeaux en primeur report. For his en primeur articles he was shortlisted for feature Writer of the Year in the Louis Roederer International Wine Writers’ Awards 2008. 

Michael judges at international wine competitions, and lectures to amateurs and professionals in the UK and abroad. He sat on the board of The Wine Society for 16 years from 2000 to 2016, chaired the Burgundy panel at Decanter’s World Wine Awards during its first ten years, and he now chairs the Jury of Latvia’s Wine of the Year Competition. His own wine courses range from a widely acclaimed “Beginners Course”, via “The Fine Wines of France”, to a much sought after series of three day “Blind Tasting” events for trainee Masters of Wine.
